Here is attempt number III. It's been interesting finding out what colors work for this technique. Lighter colors tend to wash out too much. I liked the warm colors in this one. I used burnt umber, payne's grey, yellow ochre and cobalt blue.
Original watercolor landscapes, abstracts, seascapes, and other paintings by California watercolor artist Jean Lurssen.

Yes, I like this one too. Leaves just enough to the imagination. Very pretty. I am enjoying your 'attempts'.
Thanks Teri
I feel I am getting there slowly. Enjoying the journey.
Oh hoo ... Nice scenery paintings.
Hi Jean. I have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with all your posts! Have not been around for a while. You have some truly beautiful work there!
It will be interesting to see how Facebook pans out. We have a web site in SA called South African Artists.com but so far no luck. Have you ever tried e bay? They unfortunately now no longer accept SA credit cards due to fraud!!!
Lili11: Thanks for the nice comment. I am on a journey to see what I can achieve with this technique.
Carol: Thanks for visiting. I did try ebay and sold one painting out of four listed. Maybe I will try them again. The problem is their fees have gone up and even if you don't sell you have to pay for listing. For payments, Paypal is a really good system that works well and is realtively secure.
Hi Jean, I think this one has cracked it! Really lovely.
Thanks Liz
I'm continuing to experiment.
Your color combinations are just beautiful, Jean!

Thanks so much, and thanks for featuring my art on your wonderful blog.
Simply gorgeous colors! Love 'em!
Thanks Teresa
I'm having fun with this exercise.
This painting is showing your growing confidence. I also like that you give free rein to the backruns and that these effects fit in with the composition. Beautiful palette.
Thanks Lisa
I'm still struggling with the technique but enjoying the journey.
Beautiful work. The wet on wet is very effective - peaceful.
Thanks HammelmanArt
Glad to see you promoting Etsy artists. We need all the promotion we can get.
This is gorgeous. I've always wished I could get the hang of watercolors. When my grandfather is teaching me and is there with me I'm good at them. But as soon as I leave his studio I'm completely hopeless with watercolors beyond doing a color wash. :)
Thanks for the comment. I figured doing the $7 Artfire thing was worth it because 1) it's about the same price as listing only one item on Etsy per day for one month, and 2) I can cancel at any time if Artfire doesn't work out and I'm not out all that much. Good luck if you decide to try it out!

Thanks Sara
I think I will try Artfire since there is nothing to lose.
